We've moved back to South Dakota. For me, it's been almost 3 years, but it's good to be back. I'm working at Douglas School District in the Tech Department, which is where I went to school most of my life.

A little while back, I was looking for a Nautilus script that would make scping files easier and faster. I stumbled upon http://alucinogenado.wordpress.com/2007/07/01/scp-front-end-script-for-nautilus/
Well, that script lacked a few things and had too many dialogs - defeating the purpose. I've modified it quite a bit and you can check it out here.
Differences from the original:
- Uses notification daemon
- Allows selecting multiple files
- Only has one dialog (choosing the destination).
- Allows spaces in file names.
- Doesn't show xterm by default
- Removed the manual options (bah).
- A couple of other small tweaks.

A few years ago I created a simple web program that indexes the files in a web directory. Some people have shown some interest in it and I'm surprised when I stumble upon it somewhere. I got it to "just work" and left it at that, pretty much.
Well, I did a minor update to it today out of a new necessity. I never noticed before, but if you were to use it from a user's web directory (~username/), it would be confused. That's fixed. You can download an updated version here.

Well, hewbert.com and hewphoria.com are now on a new server. I've rented a "slab" from DataSlab, so everything is managed by myself again. This doesn't matter though, I'm sure no one visits here anymore due to months of hibernation and never really offering anything.
So I've been setting up the server. So far, the server has mail pretty much completely setup. Webmail is at http://mail.hewbert.com/ (RoundCube is sexy).
If anyone needs a dumping ground or any Internet services, let me know.
Oh, yeah. That IS Linux in the screenshot. I started using it on my main workstation again (it's been years). I still have FreeBSD on a server here though :)

Now that I'm "back" into the computer-geek world, I've started using FreeBSD on this laptop again. Here's some quick notes on getting an Epson Stylus printer (or just general printer and scanner info) to work in FreeBSD:
:: txt/EPSON-FreeBSD.txt
Hopefully it'll simplify things for some people.
